Earlier this week in a county wide email, district administrators announced that starting in the fall semester of the 25-26 school year, all physical education classes will require a long sleeve t-shirt and sweatpants.
“It’s a chance for unity and physical enhancement in a high school environment,” said Micah Hill, the MCPS superintendent, when asked for comment.
According to a study by the National Health Department, school uniforms promote camaraderie and hygiene in high school. Despite initial expectations, students’ reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.
“I feel more comfortable in sweatpants and a long sleeve, I think it will be nice to have everything already laid out for us to wear,” said Bo Morrison, high school athlete and class president candidate.
