The golf team made it to state this season, as a team, for the first time.

This is the second year that golf has competed as a team at Divisionals. Although they just fell short in 2020, they placed fourth this year, earning themselves a birth to the big show.

“Going to state as a team was one of our goals as a program,” Head coach John Heaney said.

Coach Heaney said there were plenty of highlights from the season.

Senior Hayden Ellis made All-State for the third straight year. He finished 10th at the state tournament, the best of any golfer from any Missoula school.

“Hayden had a great year and really caught the eye of some college coaches, so hopefully his competitive playing days aren’t over,” Heaney said.

Carson Suchecki was also All-Conference, with a 12th place finish at Divisionals.

On the girls’ side, Madeline Heaney and Ashlee Owens were both All-Conference.

“One of the biggest improvements came from Kaden Yaeger, who was a JV golfer last season. He put in the time in the offseason, made the varsity team, and earned a letter,” Heaney said.

“For the girls, last season they were competing to not finish last,” Coach Heaney said. “This year, they were right in the middle of the pack. So our future is bright!”
